Inspection Day - What to Expect

Four parts to the Inspection

    1.  SIGN – IN

         a.    Between 7AM and 9:30 AM

               (Organizer can provide start time 1 week prior to inspection).

 b.    Present Coggins document, etc. to secretary prior to the inspection.

 c.    Ask secretary if you need to provide more information

       (give registered name of your horse - not it's barn name – please)

d.    Inspection  starts approximately 1/2 hour after sign-in

       (Plan on a full day (8AM - 4PM) – educational & fun!)

 

2.    ACTUAL INSPECTION –All horses evaluated openly

  Ask questions in-between horses – questions encouraged, everyone is here to learn. Not a Horse

  Show where you “Show & Go”. List of entries posted (order of go). Horses shown approx. 10

  min apart –  NO TIMES PROVIDED  (Age order only). Kind, effective aids only. No Bags or

  snapping whips. One Assistant allowed.

a.           Foals – shown In-Hand & at Liberty

b.           Yearlings – shown In-Hand & at Liberty

c.           2 year olds – shown In-Hand & at Liberty (must  also be shown in a snaffle bridle)

d.           3 years & older mares & geldings – shown ONLY In-Hand

e.           3 years & older stallions – shown ONLY In-Hand

 

3.    AWARDS Ceremony

  a.     Presentation of ribbons to all qualified horses

          Certified, Red Preferred, Blue Preferred & Supreme

b.        Presentation of Branding Certificate to all qualified horses

          (minimum 67%, sign up with secretary $95 US funds)

c.        Presentation of medals to top three scoring horses – Gold, Silver & Bronze

d.        Presentation of Five Star "unofficial" certificates  (sign up with secretary $100 US)

1)          All horses who earned a score of 75% or greater - satisfied star #1

2)          Horse's name always listed with stars e.g. Matisse /*/*/ /*/ /

3)          Certificate of horse's superior Sport Horse Qualities

4)          Anyone may join the 5-Star program at any time

e.        Presentation of  "Approved for Breeding" unofficial certificates (sign up with secretary for required  DNA & 5-Star program).

1)           All mature (3+) Mares & Stallions that earned a 75% or greater qualify

2)           Must be DNA tested & Entered in 5-Star program

3)           Eligible to donate to the "Stallion Service Auction" in exchange for FREE advertising – Internet and Annual Sport Horse Guide

4)           NO ADDITIONAL ANNUAL STALLION FEES !!!!!!!

5)           “Approved for Breeding” Mares advertised for FREE on the Internet & Annual  Sport Horse Guide

 

4.   BRANDING – optional, payable only at inspection $95 (US funds)

a.     Qualified horses (67% or greater)

b.     You will receive a Branding certificate

c.     Return to secretary and pay the branding fee ($95 US funds)

d.     Hot brand - held only a few seconds (NOT like the cowboy movies)

e.     Not Sure? - watch a few "brandings" before you make up your mind
