Become a Representative...You'll love it!

(6/4/07)

We are always looking for current members to become State Directors and District, Discipline & Functional (ie: Awards & Inspections) Representatives to help us with:
  • answering local questions
  • locating inspection & branding sites in your area
  • presenting local awards
  • promotional activities (ie: Horse Expositions)

If you think you might be interested in volunteering for any of the above, read on. After making a suitable selection return the form to the AWS national office and you will receive stacks of "True Blue" informational brochures and "Inspection & Breeding Guidelines" to pass out to all your friends and interested people. An American Warmblood Representative name tag will be sent as soon as possible.

Before you start - decide which position you would like to represent, please check below for your area of interest and/or location. If you are very busy and have limited time, but still want to help, consider assisting an existing AWS Representative occasionally. The AWS appreciates all your efforts, working together, with "members helping members" - one of the qualities that make this organization great. Current membership is required.

What do representatives do?

  1. Answer questions locally about the AWS. The "True Blue" brochure contains a wealth of information, make sure you read this thoroughly. Be familiar with the registration, nomination and recording procedures. Also be aware of the many programs offered and be able to answer rudimentary questions. The National Office should always be suggested as a place to call when you are unsure of the answer.

  2. Assist National Breeding Director to locate potential inspection sites and/or help the day of the AWS Inspection (as needed).

  3. Give out Awards a recognized shows.
    • Choose 1 or 2 recognized, well attended shows each year.
    • Contact organizer or show secretary 3 months prior to show date to get permission to give AWS awards. (Gold, Silver & Bronze medals). Request to be listed in the prize list or in the Omnibus listing. Complete AWS form to request medals to be given at the show. Remember to the National Office needs at least a 6 week lead-time.
    • On the day of the show report to the scorer and volunteer to assist with AWS awards. Members must show current Membership/Awards card for the horse to be eligible for awards. It is requested that members send in copies of their card to the secretary of the show when the entry is sent in. Representatives are supplied with membership and Award Program applications and the Reps can accept completed forms and fees at the show. Send the new applications and fees to the National Office.
    • Present the awards whenever possible.
    • After the show, complete the results form and list the awards given. Mail AWS results form to the AWS National Office.

If you are interested in any of the above, please contact the National Office at (501) 893-2777 or
