Approved Stallions and Mares

The AWS Offers the "Approved for Breeding" status to the top AWS registered (or nominated or recorded) stallions and mares without an extra fee. There are no annual fees to keep this status. Once earned it will always be the status.

In exchange for a stallion service auction donation, the following three major services are offered free for our Approved stallions and current members in good standing:

  1. Advertisement in the Annual Approved Stallion Service Auction Brochure – fullpage listing with picture
  2. Advertisement in the Internet web page with picture.
  3. Advertisement in the Annual Sport Horse/Pony Guide – full page listing with picture.
  4. "Model" designations for all offspring of "Approved" stallions and "Approved mares".

All Stallions may be advertised in the Annual Sport Horse/Pony Guide and/or the Internet for minimal fee. Approved for breeding stallions are encouraged to donate a breeding for the annual stallion service auction, in which case, the fees will be waived for the Annual Sport Horse/Pony Guide Advertisement and the stallion listing on the Internet for one year.

Internet listing is always offered free to "Approved for Breeding" mares.

All "Approved for Breeding" horses/ponies require DNA testing for future parent verification and need to be in the 5-star Recognition Program.

Approved horses/ponies are stallions and mares that have accomplished one or more of the following after age of three:

  • Inspection scores of 75% or higher with no score of five (5) or less.
  • Breeders waiver:
    1. Stallions - minimum of seven (7) offspring that are registered and satisfied "Approval" requirements. Regardless of age, both testicles must be desended (no cryptochidism or monorchidism).
    2. Mares - minimum of three (3) offspring that are registered and satisfied "Approval" requirements.
  • In-hand recognized Sport Horse/Pony (unrestricted breed) class scores of 75% or higher with no score of five (5) or less.
  • Scores for any one of the following:
    1. Dressage – 3rd level or higher - 63% in Open classes.
    2. Eventing – Preliminary level or higher - maximum 45 penalties in dressage test, without elimination or retirement or withdrawal.
    3. Show Jumping – AWS mid level or higher (AO/JR/MODIFIED) - Placing 1st-3rd.
    4. Combined Driving – Intermediate level or higher - maximum of 45 penalties in dressage test without elimination or retirement or withdrawal.

A non-returnable picture for Brochure, Internet & Advertising must be provided. Written advertising rights from photographer is required if copyright.
