The American Warmblood Society (AWS) was founded in 1983 with the sole purpose of promoting the American Warmblood sporthorse in the recognized English sports of Dressage, Eventing, Show Jumping, Hunter and Combined Driving. The AWS is affiliated with the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) United States Dressage Federation (USDF) United States Eventing Association (USEA). We are working on getting affiliated status back with the World Breeding Federation (WBFSH). The AWS is a performance horse registry not based on a closed book of bloodlines, but is open to all breeds of horses (with the exception of gaited breeds) that compete or are breeding for the above sporthorse disciplines. The AWS monitors breeding thru inspections and actual performance results assuring the selective development of the ideal sporthorse. All AWS horses must satisfy a performance requirement to get full registration, sometime in the horses lifetime. Pending certificates are available to horses until the performance is completed. All AWS horses are supported from grass roots to the Olympic levels in the sports that are supported through AWS and the recognized sports.
We invite you to explore the benefits of being in the awards program, going to an informative educational inspection at no cost (auditing) or bid on one of our stallions to give your breeding program a jump start into quality and one step closer to the ideal sporthorse!
The AWS is passionate about providing members with a host of benefits and promoting the highest standards of excellence in the sport horse community. A deep love for warmbloods permeates every aspect of the organization and guides its activities at every level. As a result, the AWS has built a reputation for the outstanding services it provides and continually strives for distinction in its programs and resources. By combining a vast amount of experience and expertise, the AWS is able to educate and promote the highest standards among dressage horses as well as horses in eventing, show jumping, hunter and combined driving.
