NOTE to all Members:   AWS is proud to present this article on our Member/Facebook Administrator Sarah (Martin) Spaulding.  Congratulations to all of your accomplishments Sarah!

Getting a Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biochemistry doesn’t leave you with much free time. But Sarah Martin, a newly minted Ph.D. with a policy fellowship at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, found a way to make time between lab hours and piles of research for what she loves most: dressage.  (Cont. Thanks to so many people who made our American Warmblood Society Inspection a resounding success! As some of you may know, I work overnights on the weekends, so I needed a day to recover before making Facebook posts. I hope you all will indulge me as I wish to make several points over several posts. The first...we had exceptional quality horses attend the inspection. An inspection refects a "snapshot" in a horse's life. S/he could be having a great day, an awkward day, a little bit of a sick or stressful day, it's awesome when it all comes together, but its not the end of the world when it doesn't. These inspections will let you know how your breeding program is doing, if your instincts on sporthorse quality are going in the right direction, and best of all, your horses are now part of the AWS community ready to win beautiful awards and network with others for sales, stud services, advice, etc. WELCOME! Every horse in our inspection earned a Red Preferred or better meaning that they were all well above average and earned a brand if desired. This weanling filly was our bottom line, and that says that our bar was raised very high! Who knows what Fairy Gold, a 3/4 Welsh 1/4 Oldenburg would have done in a Part bred Welsh class at Dressage at Devon, but to her owners, the Burk family and her trainer Monet Lammers, she could have won the Olympics! Isn't the love of the horse what it's all about? More later... — with Amy Sertl, Monet Lammers, Leslie McIntyre Granger, Pam Harris Bishop, Diane J. Davis, Amy Burkemper, Lois Aichholz and Joanna Levy Kyger at Trinita Farms.
